Drive down Bridge Road on a Tuesday afternoon and Hobe Sound looks exactly like it did last fall. Same low storefronts, same shell-stone sidewalks, same slow left turn onto Dixie. Look closer and the everyday infrastructure of the town has quietly reshuffled since June. A new grocery anchor. A gap in the state park's rental fleet. A dining row that has grown up around Palm & Ivy. If you live here, three of your standing weekend habits have new answers.
This is a field note, not a roundup. The through-line is that Hobe Sound is in a small restocking moment, and the practical shape of your week has already shifted whether you noticed or not.
The grocery run just changed
The old Winn-Dixie at 8867 SE Bridge Road, the one that has been there since the early 1980s, is now an Aldi. ALDI in The Marketplace in Hobe Sound officially opened to customers after a ribbon was cut by store employees on July 9, and the store is now open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. ALDI replaces Winn-Dixie, which opened at The Marketplace in the early 1980s, and conversion of that store began last November.
That is not just a swap of signage. The new store is now the fourth ALDI grocery store in Martin County, with two in Jensen Beach and one in Stuart. For years, a mid-week Aldi trip meant a drive up to Jensen Beach or south into Jupiter. If your household ran two grocery stops, Publix for produce and Aldi for pantry, that second stop now happens on your own block. Expect the Bridge Road side of The Marketplace parking lot to run tighter through the fall as the routine settles in.
What Jonathan Dickinson can and can't do for you right now
If your standing weekend plan involves renting a kayak at the park or grabbing a cold drink at the concession stand before a hike up Hobe Mountain, read this before you drive over.
Effective June 30, 2026: All concessions at Jonathan Dickinson State Park are currently unavailable, including canoe, kayak and bicycle rentals, boat tours and general concessions (food, drink, ice and souvenirs).
That is the current notice from Florida State Parks. The trails, the campground and the water itself are open. What is closed is the transactional layer people take for granted: no rental fleet, no Loxahatchee Queen boat tour, no on-site food. Bring your own bikes, your own boat, your own water bottle. The River Campground south men's and women's bathhouses are also closed for renovations, though the south family/ADA bathroom with shower is open and the north bathhouse remains open.
Trapper Nelson's site is still reachable if you have your own hull. Effective July 2026: Trapper Nelson's Interpretive Site is open to personal watercraft Wednesday through Monday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed on Tuesdays. Plan your Loxahatchee run around that Tuesday closure, because it is easy to forget once you are on the water.
The upside for residents: the Hobe Sound Nature Center keeps running its own program calendar out of the park's ranger station regardless of concession status. Their spring "Nature's Nomads" series opens Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with From Trail to Lens: Photographing Florida's Scrub Jays, a guided hike through the park's scrub habitat in search of the Florida Scrub-Jay, a species found nowhere else on Earth. Worth marking now if you want a slot.
Bridge Road, sorted by what you actually want tonight
The stretch of Bridge Road between Dixie Highway and A1A now supports more dining variety than it did two years ago, and each place has a distinct job. If you already live here, the useful question is not "where should we eat," it is "which of these do we mean tonight."

One more note on that dining row: a chef-driven lunch spot is set to open near Palm & Ivy, offering locally baked bread, flatbreads, sandwiches, and salads from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily to complement the adjacent dinner-focused restaurant. That is the missing lunch anchor Bridge Road has needed. When it opens, the block finally covers a full daypart.
The weekend rhythm
Saturday morning in Hobe Sound has a fixed shape and it is worth defending. The Hobe Sound Farmers Market runs year-round every Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at 1425 SE Bridge Road. The market also hosts its own after-hours programming through the fall, including Line Dancing at Hobe Sound Farms on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 6:00 p.m.
Sound Brewing has quietly turned into the town's third-place spot for people who want something between a restaurant and a bar. Look for Saturday Sculpt at Sound Brewing on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. and the trivia and happy-hour cadence they have built up over the last year. Harry and the Natives keeps its own crowd, with CHEMISTRY Rocks Awesome 80s Dance Night at Harry and the Natives on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. for anyone who wants a louder Saturday.
Dates to block off before the calendar fills
The Chamber calendar has the fall's structural events. If you only mark three from this list, make them the two 5Ks and Business After Hours, because those are the ones where you will actually run into your neighbors.

Reading the pattern
Put the pieces next to each other. A national grocer takes over a 1980s-era anchor. The state park pulls back its rentals and food while its trails stay open.
